I am in Austin Texas and was wondering about the credentials of Richard Guerra.Where did he learn Wing Chun etc.

Guerra was handpicked by Leung Ting in 1980 and also appeared with him opposite Leung Ting in June 1982 in Black Belt magazine. Richard Guerra is 5"8 1/2, 190 pounds at the age of 54. Even at the age of 54 he is solid as a rock and should never be underestimated. He has practiced the hard and brutal style of So -- Ryu Karate since 1966, and was never defeated in the dojo wars (THE GOLDEN ERA OF KARATE) of the 60's and 70's. Even though he's trained in Japanese Karate he's is not rigid, but fluid and relaxed. His Wing Tsun skills are sought by many who are tired of the Bull S***. He never quit Leung Ting organization due to any so called Financial Greed, he actually resigned which had nothing to due with Leung Ting. He respects Leung Ting and has no negative comments towards Leung Ting. If Guerra's Wing Tsun is wrong, then Leung Ting's did a great job teaching him incorrect techniques which have allowed Sifu Guerra to knocked down his opponents within one punch. Sifu Guerra usually does not read the newsgroups because there full of crap! Concerning Jeff Webb, Sifu Guerra has no negative comments.

Richard Guerra was one of Leung Ting's first students in Texas back in the early 80's. Since Leung Ting could only spend a limited amount of time in the USA, he used to conduct week long seminars teaching a WT crash course so that he could build up his USA instructors. Richard took a couple of those courses and was made an instructor. Unfortunately there were others that also had aspirations of being instructors that used to train under Richard. When a couple of these guys attended a seminar with Leung Ting without Richard's permission, he went ballistic. This eventually lead to Richard resigning from Leung Ting's organization due to ego and jealousy. He then proclaimed himself a grandmaster and started teaching his own bastardized version of WT. He screwed himself by doing this because he could never study WT/WC with anyone else again. lol He might be tough at his karate, but his WT sucks.

Richard Guerra indeed trained in WT in Taiwan in 1972 and continued his training until 1979, then met Leung Ting in 1980 and for four years. He then resigned because his wife passed away in 1984 and continued to practice and teach WT in Texas and in Mexico. Grandmaster Guerra states, "the students who quit didn't have the ball s to learn to fight in his classes, so they quit." "Wether or not my WT is bastardized, I am not afraid of anyone.

Every year he has a new history of himself to tell us!He claims to be a former Vietnam veteran Navy Seal who has "gotten wet" with enemy blood (which I doubt he even could've qualified as a navy cook).He claims to have been a veteran of the "dojo wars" of the late 60's ( he didn't even know what karate was back then).He learned Wing Chun in Taiwan in the early 70's (he NEVER lived in Taiwan EVER!!).WHAT I HEARD was that 20 years ago he claimed to be a 10th Level at WT & even had a diploma from Leung Ting to prove it but one day one of his students took a close look at the diploma & saw that Guerra had put a 0 after the 1.Which made a Level 1 look like a Level 10 in the diploma.Tell us about these pieces of Guerra's history.Any truth to them?
